XML question
herald10
Hi,
For each XML schema we use some thing like:
<xs:schema
xmlns:xs="
http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
</xs:schema>
What happens if the webserver of w3.org is down?
Thanks a lot
-H

I got this from w3schools.
Note that the address used to identify the namespace, is not used by the parser to look up information. The only purpose is to give the namespace a unique name. However, very often companies use the namespace as a pointer to a real Web page containing information about the namespace.
doesn't make lot of sense as of now. but i can live with that for now.

The best way to test that is to change the URL to the DTD to one that does not exist. Say
http://www.w3
NOGOOD
.org/2001/XMLSchema
My assumption is that in the case you are using Java the parser would fail. Saying it could not find the DTD. I would also think the odds of w3 being in-accessible would be small.
If you are concerned you could always have a local copy of the DTD and switch out the DTD statement with a local URL after checking and seeing that a call to the URL returns a 404 or 500 or whatever just not successes.

That sounds plausible as well.
