TeamSite login.jsp

oroque

Hi,

I modified iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/teamsite/auth/login.jsp and ran the following commands:
iw-home/install/install_webapps.ipl -c
iw-home/bin/iwreset -ui

When I ran the install_webapps.ipl -c command, I got the following response:
..Note: Some input files use or override a deprecated API.
Note: Recompile with -deprecation for details.
. ... ..Note: /Interwoven/TeamSite/httpd/webapps/tsadmin/WEB-INF/jspc/framework/auth/login_jsp.java uses or overrides a deprecated API.
Note: Recompile with -deprecation for details.

I've also tried running make_toolkit.ipl with the jsp_precompile switch.

I did not see any changes take effect to my login.jsp when I visit my Content Center Login Page. I am using TS 6.1.0 for Solaris.
Am i editing the right file and then running the right commands to clear the server cache and recompile the JSPs?

Try deleting the files contained in this directory:
\iw-home\servletd\work\Standalone\localhost\iw-cc\teamsite\auth\

These are the servlet daemon work files.

Thanks for the response.

I checked the directory you specified and it seems that this directory does not exist.
This is the only directory/files I found:

iw-home/servletd/work/Standalone/localhost/iw-cc/customer_samples/....

Any idea why?

Gregg Faus

Sorry, you only get these files when you have pre-compilation turned off (e.g. jsp_noprecompile). In your case, editing login.jsp and recompiling should work. That is recompiling *without* reinstalling the web apps. In that case, you have to update the war file with your new login.jsp.

For testing I would recompile with the following command:
iwperl c:\iw-home\install\install_webapps.ipl -c -nojsp_precompile content_center

This will recompile just content_center app without precompilation. Then you should get those works files once you hit the login page. Now all you have to do to see your changes is to delete the work files everytime you want remove the login page cache.

When you finally get your login page changed how you want. Incorporate that change into the teamsite.war file and then reinstall webapps.

Hi gfaus,

Thank you again for your quick response - I will try what you have suggested and will post follow-ups.

I've tried the iwperl c:\iw-home\install\install_webapps.ipl -c -nojsp_precompile content_center and then an iwreset -ui and it seems that the login.jsp still remains unchanged. I've even tried rebooting. Any ideas?

gfaus: What version of TS are you using? I am wondering if I am editing the right file. Also, I tried editing launch.html and it worked. I tried editing start.jsp (the one with all the redirects to iw.ui) and changes don't show either.

Gregg Faus

I'm running TS 6.1 on Win2k. I've got a customized login page with a new UI and I've also removed the domain dropdown. The file changes are in:
\iw-home\httpd\webapps\content_center\teamsite\auth\login.jsp

If you are running in "nojsp_precompile" mode do you see your changes in the corresponding work directory?
\iw-home\servletd\work\Standalone\localhost\iw-cc\teamsite\auth\login_jsp.java

oroque

I edited the file
iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/teamsite/auth/login.jsp
I ran the commands
install_webapps.ipl -c -nojsp_precompile content_center
iwreset -ui
and then accessed the interface.

I then checked the \iw-home\servletd\work\Standalone\localhost\iw-cc directory and only found a 'customer_samples' directory, not a 'teamsite' directory.

Seems weird that no directories/files are being created under the directory you specified.

Hm, it still doesn't sound like you are running in noprecompile mode, because that is where the precompile files should be placed.

Try setting noprecompile with the toolkit script:
iwperl \iw-home\bin\make_toolkit.ipl -target "clobber" -nojsp_precompile

(Change the path to match your installation)

Sorry if this is a 'newbish' question, but were do I run this command from?

It tells me that it can't find the file "./etc/webapp.ver"

Gregg Faus

Run this command from the bin directory located in the default installation directory (run iwgethome).

iwperl make_toolkit.ipl -target "clobber" -nojsp_precompile

oroque

Hi,

./iwgethome returns: /Interwoven/TeamSite

I run the command from /Interwoven/TeamSite/bin (Here is what I get).
bash-2.03# /Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl make_toolkit.ipl -target "clobber" -nojsp_precompile
./etc/webapp.ver was not found.
Are you in the right directory?

It keeps asking for the webapp.ver

Gregg Faus

What do these commands return?
iwperl make_toolkit.ipl -target "install" -nojsp_precompile
iwperl make_toolkit.ipl -target "update" -nojsp_precompile

oroque

Same thing for both.

Running from /Interwoven/TeamSite/bin
bash-2.03# /Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl make_toolkit.ipl -target "update" -nojsp_precompile
./etc/webapp.ver was not found.
Are you in the right directory?

In 6.1, don't you have to execute this from the <iw-home>\local\config\lib\content_center\customer_src directory? So you would execute something like:

Running from /Interwoven/TeamSite/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src
/Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /Interwoven/TeamSite/bin/make_toolkit.ipl -target clobber

He is running 6.1 and make_toolkit.ipl is now in the bin directory, not the customer directory. In 6.0, you used to run a "make".

lhdavis

Right, I understand that but it's not what I wrote. If you look at Step 6 on page 106 of the TS 6.1 UI Customization Guide, it says to execute the make_toolkit.ipl script from within the directory I stated. You just give the full path to iwperl as <iw-home>\iw-perl\bin\iwperl and the script as <iw-home>\bin\make_toolkit.ipl.

Sorry, read to fast -- thought you were referring to 6.0 syntax. You can run this command from anywhere. At least in Win2k.

At this point you may want to consider renaming the content_center web app, then re-installing the webapps again (-i content_center parameter in the install_webapps.ipl). Then try changing the login.jsp and recompile again.

lhdavis

I had some problems with the make_toolkit.ipl and some "poorly formed XML" error messages and followed the following steps to resolve it (basically what gfaus is saying):

1. Check <iw-home>/httpd/webapps/content_center to see what it contains. It should not be empty, and its WEB-INF/lib directory should have lots of .jar files.

2. Removed the <iw-home>/httpd/webapps/content_center directory

3. Run <iw-home>/install/install_webapps.ipl -i -f

One thing to note is that I did stop all of the Interwoven services to remove the iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center directory (wasn't sure which process actually had it locked). Also, I rebooted the box after the successful install_webapps.ipl execution.

That resolved my make_toolkit.ipl issues.

I think the pedantically correct command would be:

`iwgethome`/bin/make_toolkit.ipl -src `iwgethome`/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src -target clobber -nosjp_precompile

That way it doesn't matter what directory you're in.

I had similar issue. make_tookkid.ipl did not help since it only tried to re-make my customer toolkid, not the rest of the content_center.

What worked for me was:
1. delete httpd\webapps\content_center\WEB-INF\jspc\teamsite\auth\login_jsp.java
2. in the install directory, run: install_webapps.ipl -c content_center
3. iwreset -a

oroque

Thanks for all responses everyone.

I agree with the posts above, make_toolkit.ipl seems to only make customer toolkits and not content_center specifically.

I did another install_webapps.ipl -i -f and for some reason (all of a sudden), the following directory was created with the respective java/class files:
/iw-home/servletd/work/Standalone/localhost/iw-cc/teamsite/auth

I followed gfaus' instructions and just deleted these files everytime I wanted a true refresh of the page and it showed all my updates.

Thanks for all the help - I appreciate it a lot.
