HI all,
on the risk of getting RTFM or STFW answers

i'll post this question here.
we're running a TS6.1 on a solaris box with an existing weblogic instance. for preview and what have ya, the manual states to use a second tomcat on 81, however due to system constraints we cannot provide that. we have a weblogic instance on 5048 that provides the same function, though.
iw.cfg states
[iwproxy]
iwproxy_host=localhost
customer_webserver_host=name.2ndlvl.tpllvl
iwproxy_port=1080
customer_webserver_port=5048
[iwproxy_preconnect_remap]
#_regex=.*/(.*?)/img/(.*)$=/cs/iwmnt/backinstore/main/$1/WORKAREA/$1/img/$2
#_regex=.*/images/WORKAREA/images/(.*)$=/cs/iwmnt/backinstore/main/images/WORKAREA/images/$1
#
# CSHE4EXTM_END (do not remove) / wysiwyg/navigation entries
_regex=^(.*/WORKAREA/[^/]+)?/([^/]+)/(.*)$=/iw-mount/backinstore/main/$2/WORKAREA/$2/$3
# ^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^
# current target tail target target tail
# workarea subsite subsite subsite
the result for this is, that our custom interface will show images from our global branch images properly. however when clicking the image inside the CCprof window results in a 404 reply when asking a
https://machinename/iw-mount/backinstore/main/images/WORKAREA/images/picture.jpg. I dunno if the https is an issue here, but the whole system is setup using https, and i cannot change that without getting shot

Now here is what i want to achive, and perhaps someone has an idea on how to attack this
i got two global branches, called commons and images commons will publish to the webroot / images is located at /images. commons contains all our includes, javascripts, stylesheets and global design images that are used in our template. we keep these central, so the design team can maintain them, without having to go and reproduce the changes in all subsites i.e branches (350+). same goes for the images, the branch contains images that are being used through out the whole site (our TS only provides content to one site atm with 350+ subsites i.e directories like /HR , /legal /people etc.)
the following things must be considered
all branches contain ./inc directories. this is in conflict with the commons branch, which maintains the /inc directory for all SSI items. all branches hold an ./img directory, that is in direct conflict with the commons /img directory.
our preview server runs on 5048, not on 81
we also use a special interface to create and maintain content, that is executed as a cgi script owned by iwui
what is working, what not
atm the editor script shows the images, not the includes, though
the normal gui ccprof only get0s me 404's when wanting to preview an uploaded item.
any ideas welcome
