Setting CustomAttributes

Hello Techies--

I would like to use the CustomSttributes collection to store status information about individual documents. I would also like to use this collection to store historical information captured from Documentum which has no exact equivalent in WorkSite. The code samples in the documentation are all about getting these values out of the collection--but--not setting them. Although I know this type of assignment won't work, here (last line) is roughly what I have in mind:

Custom field values are set using the IManDocument.SetAttributeByID method.

Example to set a value to Custom1 field:
oDocument.SetAttributeByID (imProfileCustom1, "Client"); // "Client" must be a valid value already defined in the database.
oDocument.Update();

Note: when setting values to custom validated/look-up fields, 1-12 and 29-30, the values have to come from the metadata added in the DBAdmin program.

Can you give an example of how to do this at the workspace level? I am wanting to change custom attribute #26 which is a Yes/No container for "Open Matter". I've tried changing it in the following ways without success:

'ws.AdditionalProperties.ItemByName("IMan___50").Value = "Y"
and
ws.CustomProperties.ItemByIndex(26).Value = "Y"

If you are looking to add data to a non validated field - it can be done by the following command

oWorkspace.Profile.SetAttributeByID(imProfileAttributeID.imProfileCustom14, "Value string")

If it is needed for a validated field like custom1-custom12, custom29-30, you can still use the above command by changing the attribute number, provided the attribute value you are saving is already existing in the attribute validated list. Adding a value to a validated field can be done either through Database Administrator or through programatically by extending ImanAdmin dll.
