Out of curiosity - how big is the DCR in terms of the amount of content it contains (or even just it's file size as reported from a shell / dos-prompt)?

If the DCR is big and the PT is doing a lot of work, it may take a while to process - in circumstances like this, investigation of the PT code may uncover some poor coding heuristics that could be fixed to improve performance.

If the DCR is not big - then the problem is probably still in the PT - but it's a case of broken code (as opposed to just poor coding) and it may be easier to comment out almost everything and try it out and then start adding back things until you find where it breaks (depends on how the PT is written and your skills / ability to debug it without using such a brute-force approach).

As Nipper put it a bit succinctly - if you look at the usage for iwpt_compile.ipl - you'll see there is an option (-ocode) for having it create the resultant perl code that will be executed to perform the page generation - and you may be able to debug the problem that way.
