Access to MediaBin from Mac client

Hi,

I have just installed the MediaBin webservices on the server hosting MediaBin. I am now trying to connect to the server usign a macintosh client.
When I try to conect I get the following error

Failed to connect to Media Bin server, please review connection settings

I am positive that I have supplied the correct connection informaton. I am able to connect to the MB server using the webclient.
The webservice is up and running, and I am able to see all the web methods on invoking the URL http://server/mediabinwebservices/mediabinserver.asmx

The version of MB I am running is 4.5 and the Mac runs OS X.

Any pointers on what is going wrong?

Hello,

This is probably not the issue, but for completeness sake, the default URL is http://server/mediabinwebservice/mediabinserver.asmx. Note there is no "s" at the end of mediabinwebservice.

The next thing we should check are the actual SOAP requests coming across the wire. You can easily check this by installing tcpflow which dumps the HTTP data to a console in real time.

You can download tcpflow with this link.

In order to use this program, you will need root access enabled on your machine. If it is not enabled, you can do this in the /Applications/Utilities/Netinfo Manager application. Go to the Security Menu and select "Enable Root User", and follow the prompts. When you run the command below, it will prompt for a password. That is the password you entered when you enabled root user.

Once installed open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal and run this command:

sudo /usr/local/bin/tcpflow -c port 80

You will know it is running because it will say something like this:

"/usr/local/bin/tcpflow[470]: listening on en0"

Open the client application and try logging in. You will see stuff fly by in the Terminal window. Just copy the results from the Terminal window and paste them here, so we can see what it is happening.

1) I confirm that I am invoking the correct url. There was a typo in the previous post.

Hi,

The problem seemed to be an incorrect webservices install, though I am surprised what could have gone wrong.
After doing a fresh install of the webservices, I am now able to connect from the Mac client.
