visual annotate client - should user be admin
teamsite_guy
Hi
I have a quick question regarding visual annotate. Do Teamsite users(content contributors/reviewers) have to be administrator on their machine, to use the visual annotate client?
The visual annotate documentation says that user has to be administrator on their machine. Can anyone please share their expereince with visual annotate client usage requirements.
Thanks

Thanks Michelle.
So, does it mean that in a typical office environment( users using using windows 2000 PCs) , Teamsite users(content contributors/reviewers) will not be able to use visual annotate and only the Windows 2000 server administrator can use it? Is there anyway the visual annotate client can be setup so that normal users can use it and not the windows 2000 administrator only.
Thanks

You need administrative rights on the PC to *install* the client software for VA - since (I'm guessing here, but with a reasonable degree of experience) the installation process [probably] involves changes to the registry on the client PC.
Once it's installed on the client PC - I believe any user should be able to make use of it

Back in April you stated that you did not think there would be a new version of VA for a long time. Can you shed any light on the future of VA now?
THANKS!

Yup. VA needs to be installed on the client machine by someone who has administrative privileges on that machine. If your end-users do not have admin privileges on their workstations, they'll have to request that an Administrator installs it for them. After that, they can use VA freely.
Sorry for the confusion.
