Adding files to nested job
kshitiz
Hi
In my workflow, there is an external task that is generating a list of files based on some conditions. In the same workflow there is a nested wf task that needs these list of files.
Can you please suggest a way for doing this??
Thnx
ks

Can you provide a bit more detail here?
The externtask is in the *parent* workflow - right?
Can the files that it generates be added to the parent workflow? or must they only be added to the nested workflow?
If they are added to the parent workflow's externaltask before the wftask is activated - I *think* the files are automatically assocaited with the child workflow - but if they're not - you can use an externaltas within the child workflow to retrieve them (and anything else you want) from the parent workflow by using the TeamSite::WFworkflow::GetParentTask() method and then transferring whatever information you want from one workflow / task to the other workflow / task.
You can even do this if you don't want the files directly attached to the parent workflow - by having the externaltask script stick the file list into a job variable and then using TeamSite::WFworkflow::GetParentTask() and from that using TeamSite::WFtask::GetWorkflowId() and .... you should be able to figure out the rest (if not, you either need more training or you need to hire someone who understands this better)

Thnx for the help.
i've come upon a solution. i'm writing the list of files into a physical file and then reading the file in the nested workflow and adding the files to the task.
