Teamsite Archiving Strategy
neilledwards
Does any one have any ideas/thoughts/actuals on what is possible and how to archive within Teamsite?
Content that 'expires?" is to be moved to an archived area.
Thanks in advance

Automatic content expiration is a pretty frequently requested feature, but is not something natively supported by TeamSite. Most folks who need it end up rolling their own, which is usually some variation of:
1. Add metadatacapture to all your workflows. Make on of the bits of metadata an expiration date.
2. Add a cron job/windows scheduled task to crawl your content (or select from a db if you are deploying your metadata) and take appropriate action.
What "appropriate action" is, depends on your perspective. In your question, you say you want to move it to another area. Do you mean you want the files on the target webserver to move as well? Or do you just want to delete the content from the webserver, but still have an archived version available. If it's the latter, you don't need to move it - just delete it and submit the deletion. You will still have the previous versions available in editions if you have a proper strategy for publishing.
Of course, finding the right version in an edition could be painful. The new search feature in 6.5 should help with that, or you could roll your own since you'll probably be wanting to deploy your metadata to a db anyway.

To build upon what Rob said, OpenDeploy 6 has new metadata based deployments that can greatly aid content expiration. There's a DevNet webcast on this topic as well:
