Removing drop down items

Hello all,

I am trying to remove certain items from the File dropdown in Ts 6.1 sp1 on unix. I only want master to see it and all other roles not to see it. I tried the following:

in the ui_custom.xml i added the following to remove the "tag" item.

<menu id="iw.ccpro.file.menu">

<link id="iw.ccpro.file.tag.link">
</link>
</iwov-delete>
</menu>
</action-list>

this worked for removing it for all roles. Then i tried to add the following to the roles_custom.xml.

<role id="master">
<operation id="iw.ccpro.file.tag.link" isPermitted="true"/>
</role>
<role id="editor">
<operation id="iw.ccpro.file.tag.link" isPermitted="false"/>
</role>
<role id="admin">
<operation id="iw.ccpro.file.tag.link" isPermitted="false"/>
</role>
<role id="author">
<operation id="iw.ccpro.file.tag.link" isPermitted="false"/>
</role>
</roles>

this doesnt seem to do anything. I have tried a combo of both of the above and one or the other and still cannot get it to work.

Any help would be great

Yep that thread helped. Too bad we can only control custom menu items by role. It would be nice to just have the OOTB ones controlable by role, that way they would retain their order in the dropdown vs being placed at the end.

In 6.x you can place them wherever you want - in terms of the ordering of the menu items - the problem is that when you turn an OOTB menu item into a custom menu item in order to restrict which roles can access it - you lose the context-sensitive nature of the OOTB menu item (that, plus you have to go through all these contortions to do what used to be a simple one-liner in the old iw.cfg)
