It sounds like you are just talking about the Copy To Area menu item. One of my co-workers here tells me it is not an available menu item in the CC Standard interface, so if that's what you're using you will have to build it. But basically, you're just talking about a wrapper around the iwupdate command line tool (see the CLT manual).

If you want to do it in the context of workflow, use an updatetask

This isn't really a Perl question, per se, but ...

Will the destination branch always be a part of the same backing store as the source? And will the directory structure within the templatedata drectory remain the same? That is, if the category and type of the source DCR is CatA/TypeB, will the destination also be CatA/TypeB? If the answer to both is yes, then you don't really need to do anything. You can use the "Copy to Area" function within TeamSite. But if you really want to write your own front end, then you'll basically be using the iwupdate CLT to perform the work

If the answer to either question is no, then you've got more work to do. Your code will need to:

Ensure that the target directory structure exists
- templatedata/Category/Type/datacapture.cfg
- templatedata/Category/Type/data
- optional: templatedata/Categpry/Type/presentation
Copy the file contents to the correct location
Calculate the appropriate extended attributes to apply to the file
Actually apply those attributes

Thanx for your replies

In target branch i don't have same content category but it is similar.

If i have 5 itemsm in Source i am planning to reuse same dcr at target but only 4 out of them i am planning to use and remaining are new fields at target.

anyway once again thanx for your replies

Where would I look for the perl scripts you mention that are used to apply the extended attributes to files?

Dwayne

I don't see anywhere that I mentioned any "perl scripts" to apply the extended attributes to files.

There's a CLT (command line tool) which ships as a standard part of TeamSite called iwextattr which can be used to read and set extended attributes on files. Check the CLT manual for usage details.

You can find them on the support site at https://support.interwoven.com/tools/scripts/scripts.asp

You want RecreateBranch.zip.
