Customize Preview button of dcr edit
HolgerOstermann
Hello,
is it possible to customize the preview button of the dcr edit screen in order to execute some custom preview?
Thank you,
Holger Ostermann

No - but you can disable the OOTB preview button and put your own cgi-callout into the DCT form that will perform the custom process (that's what my customer uses - because their preview operation requires that the files be deployed to a staging server so that they can be viewed within a WebSphere JSP "clamp")

In TeamSite 6.5, FormAPI exposes the Preview and Generate Events and so you should be able to achieve this using FormAPI.

This sounds interesting - is it [reasonably] well documented in the manuals (since you no longer ship the on-line FormAPI docs - more's the pitty)

Hmm - I see there's still a problem getting your documents proof-read before shipping them.
P. 36 of the ts.650.formapi.pdf:

However, I'm guessing (from the documentation) that you can now use an
onPreview
event and have the FormAPI function use CallServer() to invoke the perl code to do the page generation and deployment before calling back to the FormAPI code (it's still seems a bit tricky to do this with FormAPI being asynchronous as opposed to the clear separation of UIs using a cgi-callout, but ...).
Thanks for the pointers - I'm going to have to spend a bit more time with this document
