Initial Drop Down Value

Hello all, I have a template that has a dropdown. The dropdown is a required field. When the template loads, the default value for the dropdown is visible, yet if i hit save, it tells me that required fields have not been filled out. Now if i change the value of the drop down to something else then back to the default, it works. Any thoughts?

Hey Alex (have not seen you for a while, check my profile)

If the DCR has a default value and there is no null value, you do not need required. Try it without
required & verify that the saved DCR has teh default selection.

What version of TS/TST (including patches and SP's)?
What OS?

I seem to recall that there was a bug in a past release (might have been 5.5.2 with a low SP or perhaps earlier) where default values in required fields tended not to get recognized as having been added. If you're using FormAPI - you might be able to do some test when the form is initially loaded to look for pre-set values and explicitly mark the field as modified (or something like that).

Hey Andy, i remember you!
I made the value not required, somehow it adds a blank value as the default one that loads, even though its not in the template. Strange. I just got off with tech support, they say its a bug in 6.1 sp1. :-(
