I want to run a perl script which would change the value of the items of a saved DCR. How can I do that?

CRnode are basically the same thing with different names. If you don't believe me, diff them. Back in the 4.x days, the comments for DCRnode included the lie that it was obsolete and would go away in the next release, so developers should use XMLnode instead. I see they have since updated the lie. Now it says that DCRnode will work with iwov's custom tags and XMLnode will not. That said, if you are going to parse something in DCR mode rather than raw xml mode, it's probably safest to go ahead and believe the lie, because some day it might become true.
