Backing Store Conversion

tecthis

Hello all,

Our backing store is 77gig on TS5.02. We are running iwconvert to convert backing store for TS 6.1 UNIX. Our conversion is running really slow. No one is logged in, both machines are almost idle and its converting 1.4 gigs every 3 hours. At this rate it will take over 8 days to finish. Anyone know how to speed the convertion up?

Thanks,
Alex...

Migrateduser

hello Alexander,

We had the same issue.
what we have done is to speed up the migration:
- only migrate the last edition.
- use an export and import script and not the iwov conversion script so you can export multiple sites in parallel.
- only migrate the common components once and let them internally deploy to the different site and exclude them in the export them of a site.
- build up a new server and migrate a couple of sites per day (so a phased migration, rather then in one go)

regards,

Erik
