In the drop-down list for selecting misc Meta-data for documents (for example clients), the alphabetization orders by Upper case, alphabetical first and then Lower case, alphabetical. E.G:

Alpha
Bravo
alpha
bravo

Instead of

Alpha
alpha
Bravo
bravo

Is there any way to change this? It is a pretty big issue for us actually...

Not sure if it will help - but why not check what sort order/collation is set on your database - it will all depend on where the data in the drop is sorted - if it's done at the database it could be your RDBMS.

why don't you order the list based on YOUR rules.. using an inline callout?
