TS 6.5 Email woes

In my previous gig we hads a custom email client (done before IW had email notification)

Now I am doing a 6.5 install, trying to get email going.

I am using the out of the box scripts & TPLs. As I dig though trying to debug, I notice that
iwpt_compile is failing (it fails for header & plain body, works for HTML body) :

I checked the DCR (XML) it looks fine, I checked the TPL it is invoking, correct. The file that is called
(where the error occurs) seems fine.

OK, so now I understand what it does,

run that command & it will generate a large ipl file & then run it.

So all I have to do is debug this 2600 line perl script. *wonderful*

I was wondering if people use this in 6.5 or should I be lazy and use
iw_sendmail & a text message. iw_solution_email.ipl seems to be such
a more elegant solution.

Yes - I know atleast two customers using the template based email with TS 6.5. And pretty much every customer (post 5.x) I have been to uses the iw_solution_email or some variant of it.

If you have not done already -
You might also want to search the devnet (and KBs) for ccmail_header since you are getting an error in that tpl. Theres a bunch of threads related to this.

Hmmm... iwpt_compile makes it pretty easy to debug tpls... Can't believe you've never used it before Andy

I have used iwpt_compile.

This is another beast all together.

I have noticed a lot of posts around this tpl, the need for 2 email mapping files,
and (what sounds like) strange formatting.

Time for a beer.

Can you please elaborate on this. Did you mean email_map.cfg file (2nd email mapping file).

Also can you please let me know the exact change which you carried out.

I will take a guess here.

Based on this - I'm assuming that they had accidently put a '#' style comment within the second (XML) email_map.cfg file and that when they finally tracked this down as the source of the problem - they removed that line or replaced it with the XML-equivalent as described above.
