copy backing store?
nico
This is a total newbie question but how does one copy the backing store and place it onto a new machine/install? I assume it has to do with backing store conversion but this is no conversion but rather a move of an existing store to a new ts install. ts552 win2k to ts552 win2k.
Thanks,
Nico

Pretty straightforward.
Copy as admin, preserve permissions. Usually done via mounted filesystems, but on unix I have used tar (equiv of zip)
and then ftp'ed the tar file
Easy for me to describe on Unix, not certain if there are any precautions for DOS.

there is tons of documentation on this no? if you're using domain accounts, you should be able to xcopy the whole thing. otherwise, you'll have to map the SIDs to the new ones. do some searching around here and support.

One of my client uses Robocopy.
Its basically a file system copy with preserving permissions, ownership, etc.
Are you using domain or local users/groups ? If you are using local users/groups you will have to translate the users, etc. using iwidmap
