versioning of the Perl files
boskovuk
I am able to see versions of Perl files (File-Versions). However, the TS doesn't let me compare between selected two file versions (it returns Internal Server Error).
Does something need to be enabled here? Is this problem specific to this TS install?
Thanks ...

What version of TeamSite (including service pack and patches)?
What platform (server and client)?
What browser (vendor, version, patches, etc.)?
What UI (WebDeskPro, WebDesk, CCPro, CCStd)?
Describe - exactly - how you are trying to perform this comparison (do this, do that, then ...)

I understand what you're trying to do, but as fish said, you need to be much, much more detailed in your initial post.
I'm
guessing
(because you had failed to mention) that you're using TS to store and therefore version some Perl files and you're trying to compare between submitted versions? I've never tried to do this, but my notion as to why it doesn't work is that Interwoven may already use Perl to do the comparison and the fact that you're trying to compare two files that contain the language that's used to compare them in the first place is causing a 500. That's my guess.
If this is the case, it might be seen as short-sighted to not allow for this, but then again, there are plenty of products that store and version code. TS is primarily for content and generated pages (which are often written in some language other than HTML anyway).
Has anyone else seen this problem, too?
If I'm way off on my assumtions, I'm not going to apologize -- you should have been much more specific initially.

Are you iusing source diff or visual diff ?
Visual Diff drops the 2 versions into 2 different frames within a browser.
Gues what ? Browsers have no clue what to do with a perl file.
Use Source Diff.

That is it - thanks Andy.
Sorry for the lack of details.
Dave made a good assumptions. Yes, we store and version Perl files as well. I was trying to compare two different versions of Perl files. As Andy pointed out, the browser gets confused with Perl files. SourceDiff is the way to go.
