Finding all resources with a given EA
Frack
Is there a method of finding all resources with a given Extended Attribute (a variant on iwextattr)?

Not native to Teamsite, but what a lot of people do is keep either a flat file or a database synced with that info. Otherwise, you're talking about a large performance hit to iterate through all records, etc.

If you don't have your EAs stored anywhere you can easily query, you'll have to write a script to go through your entire directory structure and check the EAs on each file. This should be easy enough to do with a simple perl script.

Easy to write - but performance will probably be dismal.
If you have TeamSite 6.5 - and are indexing your branches correctly - you should be able to use the built-in Search mechanism to find assets the have a specific EA / EA value associated with them (haven't gotten around to trying out search much yet - so I can't comment too much on this in detail).
If you use DAS in your environment, you should probably be deploying your metadata to a DB - and you can then query that.
If this is something you're going to need to do frequently - or even on a semi-regular basis - you should look into some form of DB interface to store EA relationships for later querying.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that I was assuming this would be a one time thing and not something done on a regular basis.

I actually wrote one of a script like this. It is available on the tech library section. Yea it
does take a while (several minutes to run through 20K files, using a non-trivial amount
of system resources). That being said, if that is your only option, it works.
I wrote one that was a custom menu item (not expected to be run from the docroot), that
would spawn off a job and email back the results.

You can search for all assets with a given EA value using the TeamSite Search solution in 6.5. Just index the EAs and run a search either from the UI or from the command line using the CLT to find all assets in the branch that have the EA value. This will restrict your search results to a single branch that you specify, but if you are scripting this, you could easily extend it to run through all your indexed branches.
