AssetID and "Copy Thumbnail From"

Hello again.

Is is possible to retrieve the ID of the Asset used to generate the previews of an Asset, after the "Copy Thumbnail From" functionality has been used?

Even an unsupported method will do...

We're using 4.0 SP1 and the Script Model Interface API.

Afraid not. That information is not kept post-copy. The main reason that preview editing was implemented via a copy rather than simply allowing people to upload a new preview blob was that ir provides a sanity check (i.e., we know that the preview being copied is a legal jpeg of the correct dimensions).

In an ongoing workflow, you could define your own custom metadata field and implementa second step to the copy thumbnail that would also set this new "Preview Source" metadata field. I realize that's a lot of customization.
