How to insert a new record into DCR

Hi All
I would like to creata a new node in under FAQs element which contains

does anyone have idea ? i try to use DCRnode, but I cannot find a way to insert a new node

Hi

Surely, you can use get_inner_xml and set_inner_xml available in TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

CRnode for modifying the DCR. Try using them.
I've a solution in hand in case you are not able to figure the way out

I try on get_inner_xml and set_inner_xml available , but it only allow me to modify/update the existing element,
but how can add a new node inside ?

Hmmmmm...

Thru get_inner_xml you can get the whole xml into a string. After that you have to update that string to include new values and then set it back again using set_inner_xml.

Lucky for you, I hv some code available wid me to do this. I've modified the code to meet ur requirements. Pls refer to the attached perl script.

What am I doing wrong? I just cannot seem to get this to work.
Index Pages PR Title is a field that did not previously exist - so it does not show up in the xml. I'm trying to add and populate it.

When I print out $rootxml, it's as I want it - the Index Pages PR Title field is there, properly formatted, and properly populated. But it is not making it back to the DCR.

Using this script, I can successfully change the value of an existing field, but populating a brand new field is not working. Any wisdom? ~thanks!

Why not just use a straight regex ? I tend to do that when I am massaging DCRs. What exactly are you trying to do.

To clarify the above statement - XML tag names cannot contain white-space. Perhaps there is confusion between item names and item labels - or a poorly designed DCT (which unfortunately I believe will allow such atrocities as putting white space in item names)

Thank you all for your input. Andy, as usual, you're right... much easier just to do a straight regex. Duh. I got too caught up in trying to make the DCRnode stuff work, I couldn't see the forest for the trees.

And you're right, ghoti - we were originally taught to put spaces in our field item names, as teamsite handles them fine. But I can see where it might cause problems - it's just not a priority for us to retroactively change them to "no space names" and descriptive labels instead.

So the solution is simple. Thanks again all for the input!...
