Didn't pick up available_templates.ipl

I try to add branch_list, but it didnt work at all.
The faq still cannot view the workflow,
so I try to set Debug_mode to 1 in available_templates.ipl.
no log file come out , then i try to remove available_templates.ipl
workflow is still running fine. do anyone knows whats the problem , how can i configure this ?

You can start by telling us which version of TS you are using, what patches have been applied (if any) to your version, and what OS you're on.

Run <iw-home>/bin/iwversion.exe -- it'll tell you the build number, which indicates what patches and/or service pack(s) have been applied.

Are you modifying available_templates.ipl of available_templates.cfg ? You should work with .cfg

iwversion tells the patches as well ? It don't show for my TS 6.5 on W2K.

The build number is cryptic, but I believe it indicates what patches you've got, too. I'm using TS 6.1 W2K3 the most -- I don't think there's a difference between the two versions or OS's in this case.

p. 59 of the 6.0 CLT:

When iwserver is running, iwversion displays the same result as iwserver -v.
iwversion -v displays the version string that is embedded into the iwversion
CLT. If you have installed patches, the two version strings may not be the same.

I completely agree with you on this point, but what does setting the debug flag to 1 really do to available_templates.ipl? I've never screwed with it, but I wonder if it shows anything meaningful, if it even shows anything at all.

I try on both CCPro and CCStd.

I want to set a workflow only work on that special directory. (default/Internet/Internet/www/FAQ)
only that directory can use that workflow.

so i try to create <branch_list>

<branch value="default/Internet/Internet/www/FAQ" include="yes"/>
<branch value="all"include="no"/>
</branch_list>

the problem is , all the branch still can use that workflow,
so i try to turn on the debug mode.
and it seen "available_templates.ipl" never been picked up.

Is default/Internet/Internet/www/FAQ a valid directory ? In your previous post you had the path as /default/main/Internet/WORKAREA/Internet/www/faq

I don't think you can restrict workflow for specific directories. Thats why the name "<branch_list>" and not directory_list

What happens if you specify just a branch path in branch_list. Does that work ? e.g. <branch value="/default/main/Internet" include="yes"/>

Workflows operate within an "area" (essentially a workarea) so trying to limit certain workflows to directories within an area is questionable - though I can see the use-case here where files in certain directories might go through different processes for submission (I suggest you file a feature request for it)

It used to be that new_job and submit workflows used to provide the full path to the location you were in when they were initiated - however (at least in 6.5) it seems that [by default] available_templates.ipl is no longer used and I don't see anyway to debug the processing of the available_templates.cfg file anymore - but I guess it no longer provides that level of information.

Also - I tried setting 'use_available_templates_script' to 'true' in iw.cfg (then doing an iwreset -ui) - and it seemed to break the processing of an otherwise working available_templates.cfg file (and still no debugging information got placed in IWHOME/tmp/cci/) -- so I wouldn't recommend changing that part of the iw.cfg file ;-)

I set the use_available_templates_script variable in iw.cfg to true, did an iwreset -a, and it now appears to be picking up the change to DEBUG_MODE for me. So, I'm not sure if we did something different, or if it's one of those things that is somewhat less than perfectly consistent.

TeamSite 6.1 SP1 on Solaris

The first task in all my workflows is a "Verification" task I use to check a variety of things, such as particular paths or is form-based, etc. depending upon the needs of that particular workflow. You can do it as an externaltask or cgitask, depending on how you want to inform the user they are using the wrong worklow.

I don't know how handy this is if you have a large number of specialized needs. It could clutter up the "selection" screen. But, I use it for 5 or 6 specialized workflows and the users haven't complained too much about the extra items. I try to use other filters, such as user-based or role-based, when applicable to keep the inconvenience to a minimum. I put in a FR for a group-based filter, but don't know if it will see the light of day.

Just an idea... Hope it helps...
