MediaBin Archiving
System
Does MediaBin have an archival process? I have a request to store a huge amount of data and want to have the ability to archive assets periodically and store them on an optical disk...but have the ability to retrieve them if needed... Can anyone help with this matter? Is this possible?
Thanks, in advance....

Hello:
We don't have anything out of the box, but you can do it programatically with a script or with some third party archiving software.
If you used something like Veritas (which I'm not sure if it's even commercially available any more), you could archive the hi-res asset that lives in the backing store (MBDataDirectory).
Otherwise, if you want to use a script, you can have the script do the following:
- check out the asset to your optical drive
- check in the asset from the optical drive (indexed externally)
- delete the old revisions in mediabin which will remove the old "internally stored" files.
Hope that helps
Mark...
