6.5 Simple Search for file name?

Hi All,
Just curious if there is a way to modify the default 6.5 simple search feature so that it picks up the file names first ??
For example.. I submit a file (file.asp) and index it.. then I execute a simple search for file.asp and I don't get the file
in the results.

I can get/find the file if I do an advanced search on filename property.. but I would think that the simple search would pick that up?
Its funny because the indexer picks up the fact that the file name is used in another html page body but not the page itself?

am I missing something.. maybe in TeamSiteSearch.xsd?
