Upgrade from TS 6.1 SP1 to 6.5
DJL
Hi, Looking for document that states the steps involved in migrating from 6.1 to 6.5. I remember in th 5.5.2 to 6.1 upgrade, there was an upgrade procedure document. I am searching thru the support site & have been finding bits & pieces but nothing comprehensive ? (Ex. need IE 6.0, visualformat config files should be saved, Search & reporting modules on separate machines ?) Also we would like to upgrade to SunOS 10 then upgrade to 6.5. Can 6.5 run on 10 ? Is there a step-by-step document that addresses all the issues with migrating from 6.1 to 6.5 ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Generally speaking, I believe going from 6.1 to 6.5 is considered an upgrade and not a migration.
There are bits of things that changed (e.g. the UITK directory structure in IWHOME/local/config/lib changed a little bit) - FormAPI was expanded, search was added, TSgroups were added - but by-and-large I believe it should be relatively straight forward (no need to recode cgi scripts, dcts, wfts, etc)
As for Solaris 10 - it is NOT supported in 6.5.0 (at least it doesn't appear to be from viewing the release notes).
You might check with Support to find out if Solaris 10 support is being added in 6.5 SP1 (which I think is due out relatively soon) - but otherwise I would strongly advise *against* trying to install 6.5.0 on a Solaris 10 system.

I did see one issue after upgrading from 6.1 to 6.5 (on windows, not sure if this is platform specific). A select box in a DCT used to have a blank choice inserted as the first element in the select dropdown box (apparently by the UI) on 6.1. Now on 6.5, the UI does not seem to insert the blank in the first element, but the DCT error checking code seems to still expect that the first element is the blank one inserted by the UI. This leads to an error in the DCT, when, if you select the first element in the select on a required select field, the DCT complains that the required field is missing when it actually does have a value selected. Search for other posts on this topic for more info.
Hope this helps,

Solaris 10 is not yet officially supported on 6.5 or 6.5 SP1. We are investigating for 6.7. Once we lock on that project, I can give you a more definite answer of whether it will be included or not.
thanks
