This regexp validates a date:
mm/dd/yyyy
mm-dd-yyyy
mm.dd.yyyy

I would need:
dd/mm/yyyy
dd-mm-yyyy
dd.mm.yyyy

Anybody knows the answer?

I'd say, stick with the Date::Manip package. It interprets any (and I mean any) conceivable date format and spits it out into whatever format you want. http://search.cpan.org/~sbeck/DateManip-5.42a/Manip.pod. Just set the flag that indicates non-US format so it assumes day/mon/year instead of mon/day/year and you are good to go.

Overkill to do a callServer on a formAPI to validate something like this. Smou already has a very elaborate regex which just needs some reformatting. Once the regex is as it should be, he/she could just use that without any real overhead.

You may find that writing the validation code in FormAPI / Javascript easier/better/faster than trying to rewrite the static validation regex within the DCT.

One thing to pay attention to though is that the regex you provided, and therefor the regex I am giving you, accepts single digits for day and month. So 31/01/2005 and 31/1/2005 are both valid dates. If you want to force the user to enter double digits for all dates, use this:
