Deploying files from Windows to Solaris
Balu110
I would like whether it is possible to deploy files from a local windows machine (running XP or 2000 professional) to a Solaris box using Open Deploy 5.6 or 6.0?
Currently we are running Open Deploy base and receivers on Solaris and don't have any windows based.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Yes it's possible.
I'd suggest you read the manuals though.
The one issue that comes to mind is that on Unix you can have multiple files (or directories, or one of each) called:
mumble
Mumble
MUMBLE
mumblE
(etc)
But if you try to deploly them all to the same target directory on a Windows machine - the behavior is indeterminate and I believe is treated as an error - since Windows is case-insensitive you cannot have multiple directory entries with the same name in a single directory.

Since he said Windows to Unix, that should not be an issue,
however spaces in the file names will be.

PS, Fish, didn't your mother teach you not to mumble ?

Heh - apparently I missed the from/to part (they have solaris they're thinking of getting some windows servers -- one would imagine that the source was staying the same and the targets were changing as opposed to the other way around).
As for mumbling ... well ... mmmpprh .. guilty as charged ;-)
