IWOV Search query language

Anyone have some example of query language I can use with the iwsrchquery CLT. Having problems getting something working. Also, we are going to use the CS SDK to build a custom GUI to pass XML files containing search criteria. Anyone have any pointers on what this XML file will look like. Have looked at some of the .xsd documents, but they are confusing - with NO examples

The KB article is essentially a modified version of what appears in the CLT manual - neither of which really do a good job of defining how to perform a query via the iwsrchquery CLT in my opinion.

For instance, if I have an EA "TeamSite/Metadata/Status" and I want to find all records for which that EA is set to the value "archived" - how do I formulate the query?

As a user of the CLT I don't think I should be responsible for determining how to unravel the XSD information into a valid XML specification in order to perform a query of the system.

I will be filing a case with Support on this (and several other aspects of Search I've found to be problematic) this morning - I'll post bug / feature request id references when I have them...

You might want to take a look at the [current] end-of-thread of this thread which contains (a) a pointer to a recent KB article that includes a PDF, and (b) my initial review of the same.

No formal bug or feature request has been opened up for this - the PDF that the KB refers to is currently slated to be part of the next rev of documentation (I believe)

That was what was at the end of the thread I referenced in my last post -- along with a post following that where I state that IMO - the document available from the KB is badly formatted and shows a bit of lack-of-forethought in terms of end-user usage for a CLT. The former should definitely be fixed, the latter it would be nice to see a fix for but I'm less optimistic about it happening.

Looked at the examples but still nothing for what i need :-)

Anyone done anything to show the files modified in the last 7 days or after a certain date? It's easy in the UI to do this, but would be nice to be able to script a report.

One can start the search service in the debug mode and collect the corresponding XML from the logs.

You could always script something together that does an iwlistmod and filters the output by stat'ing the files (probably use the -M operator in Perl)

But no, I've not bothered throwing any such script together [yet].
