LDAP sync - Is it possible to schedule?
vnava
Is it possible to schedule the LDAP sync? I have looked within Library Manager and to my knowledge there is no such feature. If this can be created with scripts, batch file, etc. how might this be made possible?
Ideally we would like to have the Library Manager updated on a regular basis without having to manually execute the synchronize command.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks.

you may place "imldapsync –cluster clustername –library libraryname
–password adminPwd –syncid syncid" into a script and use cron or at to make it regular

Thank you for the info. I attempted the suggested function and was not successful. Could you let me know what value is needed for the "-synchid" parameter. Is the password requested the librarymanager admin's password? Isn't a password required for the "synchid"?

Yes, password is librarymanager admin password.
SyncID value is from root trustee's SyncID.
Complete syntax should be: imldapsync -cluster <cluster name> -library <library name> -password <admin password> -syncid <directory root trustee sync id>.
snip from Admin Guide:
Note: You must add a WorkSite MP unique identifier to an NDS or Netscape/Sun ONE LDAP directory server to support synchronization with WorkSite MP. This unique identifier is not required for ADS and Microsoft Exchange.
The WorkSite MP Server uses a unique identifier attribute (or synchronization ID) to enable the import and synchronization of LDAP-compliant directories into the Library Manager tree. The
default name for this attribute is iManageSyncID, though any appropriate name can be used.
The synchronization ID must be added to the schema of a remote directory before it is imported by the WorkSite Library Manager. When a custom name is used, the attribute mapping must be
changed accordingly. The value of iManageSyncId is automatically set during the import or synchronization operation. It is not necessary to assign a value manually when the attribute is
declared in the remote LDAP directory service. The synchronization attribute must be single-valued and able to store a string up to 128 characters.
The WorkSite operator must have Administrator rights to read/write the iManageSyncId in order to import a remote LDAP directory service.

To find the sync id for the root node in the imported LDAP tree:
In Library Manager, in the Realms tree, select the root of your imported users. In the Action menu in the menu bar (just right of the File menu) select Edit. The syncid is in the last tab of the "Edit Trustee" dialog.

Thank you! I was entering all types of values for the syncid and obviously they failed. I entered the root's syncid (which I struggled to find prior to the previous post) and it worked beautifully.
I appreciate everyone's help.
