Trouble iterating through multiple SELECT options

I have a DCR that contains multiple news stories. For each story, there's a multiple SELECT box where users can choose 0, 1, or more topics to associate with each story. When I iterarate through each story's topics, the values returned are references to arrays. I've attempted a number of ways to deference the array values, without success. Now I'm hoping someone can spot my error. Here's the relavant snippet of my perl code....

foreach $storyitem (iwpt_dcr_list('dcr.report')) {
$thetitle = iwpt_dcr_value('storyitem.title');
print "Title=" . $thetitle . "\n";
$topiccount = iwpt_dcr_list('storyitem.topic');
@topicList = iwpt_dcr_list('storyitem.topic');
print "Topic list count = " . $topiccount . "\n";

foreach $keyword(@topicList) {
print "Keyword: " . $keyword . "\n";
}

print "\n\n";
}

.... and here's the output I get for three stories...

Title=Supervisors Delay Vote on King/Drew Funding Request
Topic list count = 1
Keyword: TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

CRnode=ARRAY(0x36a978)

Title=Colton, Environmentalists Battle Over Endangered Fly
Topic list count = 2

I think you may have taken the multiselect too far. As far as HTML is concerned, a multiselect is nothing more than a string of selected values separated by a comma (","). Have you tried displaying the actual content of TOPIC? TST might store the values as an array, in which case this value would be almost meaningless, but I'd echo the value of storyitem.topic first and if that looks like an array, display scalar(iwpt_dcr_list('storyitem.topic')). iwpt_dcr_list will make an array of ANYTHING, so if the value you get is 1 whether or not many items are selected, it might just be a comma-separated string. If this is the case, you have a much simpler path to get to these values.

Yeah, I originally tried that, but in the case of multiple selections, it only returns one value. Here's the code...

But the problem is that second article has TWO topics selected. Simply outputing "topic" only outputs one of them.

I don't think so. I don't have access to the filesystem myself, I have to do my work via WebDeskPro. So the DCRs all appear only as popup java or HTML displays, I don't think I can grab the underlying XML file.

Try doing a File > Download (or maybe it's Edit > Download) - that should allow you to download the DCR to your local disk.

The only thing I'm doing different this time is that I'm iterating over the array with a "for" loop, instead of using a "foreach".

Hi,

I have used a multiple select list and this is how I get its values.

__SNIP__
my $organisations;
my @organisations = map( iwpt_dcr_value('$_'), iwpt_dcr_list('dcr.organisation') );

map { $organisations .= qq[organisation=$_\n]; } @organisations;

iwpt_output($organisations);
