If you have a version of Teamsite installed and running correctly then I do not see why not.
Of course it would be iwgen.exe

I am geting lot of problem with this as iam using windows 2000 professional.

Wheather it is only used for genrating HTML or it can be used to generate XML also.

It can be used to generate whatever is specified in your templating.cfg file.

Can you post the exact command you are using, as well as the error message.

What version of Teamsite?

The version of team-site is 6.0:

When i try to generate HTML

H:\bin>iwgen -t /templatedata/internet/auction/presentation/auction.tpl -r templ
atedata/internet/auction/data/phone /content/dmsbase/products/phones/phone.xml
/content/dmsbase/products/phones/phone.html

The error is : /content/dmsbase/products/phones/phone.html: could not create

My templating.cfg is :

It looks like you're trying to generate an XML file as well as an HTML file at the same time.

Try this for the XML file:
H:\bin>iwgen -t "templatedata/internet/auction/presentation/auction.tpl" -r "templatedata/internet/auction/data/phone" "/content/dmsbase/products/phones/phone.xml"

And this for the HTML file:
H:\bin>iwgen -t "templatedata/internet/auction/presentation/auction.tpl" -r "templatedata/internet/auction/data/phone" "/content/dmsbase/products/phones/phone.html"

Does the directory /content/dmsbase/products/phones exist and do you have the correct permissions on it?

i am not getting meaning of correct permission and i have not created AUTOPRIVATE.CFG AND SUBMIT.CFG then how it is affecting for html.

If u have a small TPL and DCT send me which is working in your side.

Try running your command while in the WORKAREA. Either that or you'll need to specify the full path to the files.

The following works for me:

Y:\default\main\WORKAREA\work>c:\iw-home\bin\iwgen -t "templatedata\mySite\content\presentation\content.tpl" -r "templatedata\mySite\content\data\temp\temp" "/default/main/WORKAREA/work/temp.html"

If you look at iw-home/examples/Templating directory theres a bunch of examples of DCT/TPL shipped with OOTB TS. Ofcourse you'll have to copy them over to a workarea, modify templating.cfg, etc to make them work.

What version of TS are you using ? SP/Patch level ?
OS ?
