Teamsite and SAP Portal

marcussteiner

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of evaluating the pro's and con's of the integration from Teamsite and SAP Portal and what would be the best way to do and what has already been done. We're in particular interested in more specific information with regards to the newly released TeamPortal for SAP. Does anyone know if this has ever been implemented before and who's done that and how?

Thanks
Hollis

My experience with TeamPortal in general suggests that this product must not be used. I'd reccomend a custom solution.

Spoken like someone who is a true consultant.

(not that I disagree)

ok got the message.
beside the TeamPortal integration. what other solutions have you guys got to integrate EP and TS? I've heard that it is not the easiest way to integrate EP with any CMS system because of it's API. We've already considered the creation of html content and deploy it to a fileserver and then deploy the navigation in a different deployment step in an xml form to get it loaded from EP. A second thought we had was to deploy the content in an relational database using DataDeploy and then pick it up from the EP repository manager?

any feedback is highly appreciated

thanks guys

How do you deinfe integration ? What do you want it to do ?

TP does things like show your active TS tasks in SAP, surf to
a SAP page, & edit it in TS.

Stuff that shows really well in a demo, but not particularly useful
in production

We just recently re-certified TeamPortal with 6.1 SP2 and the latest versions of the Portal Servers (BEA, IBM already available and SAP ready to ship by next week). We are also working the next generation of TeamPortal that will leverage TeamSite 6.5 and the new CSSDK. We are also investigating building JSR 168 support for the TeamPortal portlets.

there are a few ways of getting a CMS and portals together -

IMO, TeamSite should produce the content that is deployed to the Portal Server's content repository (in a form you prefer and that your portal developers would like), and then previewd in the context of the portal.

I was just going through TeamPortal threads and Greg has given pretty bad feedback about this all the time Smiley Happy

I was curious to know if some external users want to edit content on a portal then TeamPortal is the right thing to use now or it is still the same?
If No, then how can we edit teamsite content across internet so that external users can update content on portal. Definitely TS machine is not available for public access.

Another thing, when we update something on devnet forums, then this content goes to TeamSite at the end or it is only in the portal content repository. does this content version controlled ?

Any ideas on this ??

Dear All,

We need to have a facility on the website where internet users can add content to the portal. For example, users can post an advertisement.
Our portal content is managed in the TeamSite but content posted by internet users may or may not be going to teamsite at the moment. So this internet users content can be managed portal using database but this way we will have two sources of content which doesnt sounds to me proper way

I have two questions on this issue

1. Is this a right thing to manage internet user content in the Teamsite?
2. If yes, then do TeamPortal is the right tool to use or shall we think upon Java APIs or somthing.

I understand, these requirements are pretty vague here but I would like to get your ideas if this thought process is correct or not.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks!
