What interface are you using in TS 6.x
faz_at_freddie
We are upgrading from 5.5.2 to 6.5 SP1 and I'm debating on the usefulness of maintaining two interfaces. It seems like CCPro is a bit easier to use and involves less of a learning curve for the users. Do most of you guys have BOTH CCpro and CCstd available, or have you picked one or the other for your users to use?

I've been involved with 3 projects using TeamSite 6.x - 2 on Unix (both upgrades) and 1 on windows (assisting with workflow and templating development).
Both Unix / upgrade implementations used CCPro - in fact, for the project I work on 95% of the time, we used the un-supported modifications in these forums to remove the CCStd option fromm the login screen.
The Windows implementation used CCStd (I'm not sure whether it was to the exclusion of, or in addition to CCPro).
Not sure if you can draw any inferences from these few bits of data, but ...

Our developers all use CCPro in TS 6.1 SP1.
We are trying to get our content providers to use CCStd and have customized our user documentation as such. To date it has been somewhat succesful although we have had to do a customization to our forms to "hide" the dcr from our end users and enable things like "Unlock" using the UITK that are disabled out of the box.
For legacy 5.5.2 users, I would definitely recommend continuing them in CCPro because CCStd involves a bit of a learning curve and there are a lot of basic functionality disabled out of the box. If you go to CCStd, document, document, document everything (yes, I meant to type that three times).
Depending on your license agreement, I believe the licenses are much cheaper for designated CCStd users, or "business users", versus CCPro users, or "technical users".
Hope that helps.

Well - only if you consider the particular user roles as being associated with a particular UI. It costs no more (and no less) for an Author to use CCPro than it does for an Author to use CCStd (etc.).

That is true in the spirit of the law (and not like there is any true tracking/validation of which interface users are logging in as).
However, we have been told by our Interwoven Sales rep (I know, take it with a grain of salt) that with the current license cost structure for 6.x the definition is focused on what interface they use.
So on the flip side of your example, by that definition if a Master role ONLY used the CCStd interface it could get away with the cheaper "business user" license. Not that that would probably ever happen but I'm just playing devil's advocate
I love me some CCPro when compared to CCStd.
I know that in one previous iteration of TeamSite, the user license cost structure was role based, which made sense to me cause there are four roles and therefore four license costs. While this new cost structure doesn't make the same amount of sense, that is how it has been defined by IWOV Sales to us.
Just wanted to clarify.

Having both upgraded clients and installed TS 6.5 as a new install for clients I find that both interfaces have their uses. From my personal point of view, I avoid the Standard interface like the plague and work exclusively in the Pro interface with the one exception of testing code to be sure it works in both. The Standard interface is good for clients who don't know TeamSite and don't need to know TeamSite. For example, the executive that has to review content but wants to know as little as possible about the system is sent an email that links into the standard interface. They then follow links to the pages in question (or are presented the pages in the email) and can then click either Approve or Reject and they are done. Developers almost always use the Pro interface.
Supporting both interfaces is a good thing in general.

I like the idea of both interfaces as well. I find that some of the less technical users like CC Standard more... If you tell them to navigate a directory structure, and select multiple files they are like... why would I want to select multiple files... I just need to edit one at a time :-D
On another note you may want to consider the casual user.. where they are entitled to use CC Std for reviewing content, or team portal, or as a lot of people are setting it up with the email approvals.
Depending on the type of organization you have it you have a lot of approvers who do not need to edit it keeps you from having to pay for the more expensive user.
