iw_pt encoding tag ignored in tpl

I'm having trouble to get the <iw_pt encoding> tag to work in presentation templates. For some reason Teamsite seems to ignore the tag alltogether when generating the page and use the default encoding everytime.

Our system is configured to use ISO-8859-1 by default in the iwpt_encoding.ipl.

In the .tpl I have <iw_pt encoding='UTF-8'/> as the first line of the template ie. I'm using the non-XML mode.

If I use the iw_pt_compile.ipl with -oenc UTF-8 parameter the page gets generated correctly using UTF-8.

We're running TS6.1SP1 on Solaris.

Any ideas?

If you're using UTF-8 specification in your PT - is there a reason why you don't just change the above setting? is this just a one-off issue that needs to be in UTF-8?
Additionally, it seems that this would be a good case to take up with IWOV support - have you at least opened a case with them while exploring the issue here? If not, I'd strongly encourage you to do so.

Originally the iwpt_encoding.ipl was changed from UTF to ISO for the same reason ie. the iw_pt encoding tag didn't work so we used that to solve the problem. We didn't have any needs for UTF-8 coded HTML before, but now things have changed for this particular case.

We need to do some compatibility testing first before switching the default back to UTF as all of our portal solutions use ISO character set.

I haven't opened case yet, that's next on my list.
