New upgrade and swap IP's

We installed 6.5 on our new win2k3 server along with OD 6

I swapped stores from my old TS 5.5.2 server, ran iwidmap, and did some testing while the older server is still up and running. Things look good so far.

My next plan is to shut down the old 5.5.2 do the swap and do the iwidmap again. Then change the IP address of the new machine to the old machine and shut off the old machine (well not really shut off but just pull the network cable)

Question.... When I reboot the machine with the new IP what do I have to look out for? Will there be a problem? What config files will I need to change?

There is a KB in the support site which lists the things you need to do when you change IP/hostname.
Are you using TS Search ? If so, on the same box or two box configuration ?

Am I correct in assuming that this is the KB article to which you are referring?

If so - it sure would be nice if someone updated it (or created a new one) for TS 6.x.

We're going to be going through this process soon and while I believe I know most (if not all) of the places to look for changing entries related to the IP address - it would be nicer to have an official checklist to reference...

(FYI - we do have Search installed on the same box as TS)

Yes, thats the one I was refering to. True, it needs to be updated with information about 6.x and also should include any relevant information about TS on Windows/Linux.

Lissa - maybe you can take this one to the party ?

If you are using Search remember to modify one of the cssdk.cfg (host/ip of search server)

If you are using AD, you will also need to remove the old server from the domain (join it back to the workgroup and reboot), make sure the computer account is gone in AD users and computers (to free up the IP), re-IP the new server, and then add it to the domain. Hope this helps.

No doc - just basic process of grepping through config files in IWHOME looking for entries that match the hostname and/or IP address - but it's possible I might miss some files if I don't know where to look for them...

On Unix download GNU grep. It has a recursive feature plus the ability to exclude files (logs)

grep -R --exclude="log" sysname .
