configuring search
Bhargav Coca
Hello Everyone,
I have installed Search on the same machine as that of Teamsite. I am on Teamsite 6.5 with win 2k3 server. While installation i have named my "Shared Filesystem Location" as F:\TSIndSrchSFL, is this ok to perform a search. As for my understanding, i thought the search will be done on the entire IFS, hence shared filesystem location should be Y:\. IF this is the case can i configure it to the Y:\ now. Please advice.
Thank you
Jessica

The "shared file system" is a location which can be "shared" or accessed by *both* TeamSite and Search - since they're both installed on the same machine - any local disk partition should fit the bill as "shared". At least that's my interpretation....

yes fish, I was in the openion of the same, but if i do a search on my files which i have generated, it is not able to identify any file. I always get "no results" for your search screen. This makes me think that , either i have to change my shared filesystem location to F:\ or Y:\, please asdvice me if i can change it in my search configuration file with out effecting the performance of either Teamsite or the Search engine.
Thank you

The shared file system is for the search indicies (verity collections).
It is "shared" between the index service and the search service (as they can be configured on different machines.
The index service populates the shared location and the search service searches the index from that location.
The Y: is completely unrelated.
You need to set up which branches you want to index with the file search/etc/branches.cfg
You should have a good read of the manual so that you can understand the whole setup.
