Customize My Work Portlet

On the Content Center Standard there is a "portlet" with the title "My Work" (my_websites_portlet.jsp). This functionality is very close to what is needed, except it returns all workares a User has read access to. In our environment this does not work for two reasons: 1) We have hundreds of sub-branches/workareas; 2) All User receive "read" privileges. This ends up producing an unusable long list.

But if the query of "read" could be changed to "write" permissions then only a small subset would be returned. Can I make this type of change with out the portlet breaking (being over written) on the next upgrade?

Any thoughts?

I might be mistaken, but I thought that the my workareas portlet only listed writeable areas, but now that I think about it, you might be correct.

In any event, we have disabled the default read permissions for all branches. Therefore, users will only see branches that are accessible based on the user groups they belong to.

Is it possible for you to turn off the default readability?

You could subscribe to a set of favorite workareas by clicking on the "Edit my Workareas" pencil icon in the My Workareas portlet. Have your users select one or more workareas that they typically work in and the next time they log in, they will only see those workareas listed in their portlet
