Document quanity limitations

Hello all..
I have been to the admin class and have a question about maximum number of documents that MP can support. In the admin class, it was said that 5 million was the max number of documents that could be added to MP. Is this accurate and why...if true? File system limitations, performance limitations? What would be the best practice in a situation where a clint has 5 million documents in 4 months and has to keep the documents for 5 years as required by law?

Sorry for the delay in replying to your post. There was an email thread that made the rounds inside Interwoven about this.

No one could recall where this limit might have been stated. To the best of the knowledge of the experts, there is no such limit.
