Reporting not starting
nico
When I select the "Reporting" link in the od gui none of my reports are generating any current info. I have done several deployments and it still is not reporting. I've stopped and restarted od ui and od services and still nothing. Everything on my sqlserver end is fine. od 5.6 win2k, any other ideas? Is there something else I need to stop and restart?
Thanks,
Nico

In the "ask a silly question" department - did you make sure that you have reporting enabled in your odbase.xml and/or odrcvr.xml files (and that they've been restarted since then)?

Yes Event Reporting is enabled. Should anything else be restarted besides the 2 OD services?
Thanks,
Nico

I don't think so - but then again I haven't used the reporting feature very much in the last two years - so I'll defer to anyone else who has more experience with it.

If you're not using the out-of-box default configuration (with base server and admin server on same host and default ports selected), then make sure you've set up the admin server to subscribe to the events being transmitted by the base servers and receivers who are publishing.
One tip is to only enable event reporting for the base server and NOT the receivers, since in a typical base server to receiver deployment scenario the event data coming from both components is essentially the same.

Using out of the box. Wondering if world wide web publishing service needs to be stopped in addition to od services then if so what is the start process?
www service

od ui

Start OD base server (publisher).
Then start OD admin server (subscriber).
OD has a built-in publish-subscribe mechanism. Consult the OD Reference for a summary of ports used and make sure any other services you have running are not using those ports.

So how do you enable event reporting for the base server only and NOT the receivers?
Thanks,
Nico

Look at the odbase.xml (to enable it) and the odrcvr.xml (to disable it) -- it's pretty straight forward if you look at the config files.
Once you make a change to the server config file - remember to stop/start the server in order for it to pick up the changes.
