TeamSite 6.5 task_details.jsp

Does anybody know how to change the layout of the task_details page without hack the jsp file directly? For example, I need to move task transition window from buttom to top so that users don't to scroll all the way down to transition to next task. I also need to remove few elements from the GUI such as Workarea, Owner, Type and Priority.

I know I can do this if I modify the jsp page directly, however, I don't want to keep changing it if we upgrade to next version.

Please advice.
