Apache 1.3 for Windows (Visual Studio)

Ok. I've found out the issue to the Visual Preview Bar not found, but I can't fix it.... Cause in order to fix it you need to compile the modules that ship with TeamSite for Apache, and I'm assuming I'd need to start from the source of apache.

Problem is for apache you need Visual Studio (C++) http://apache-server.com/tutorials/ATgetting-started.html#build and I don't have that. Has anyone either compiled the modules the one I need is mod_iw_ts_vpath.c.

It would be nice if they shipped with them compiled, especially since on winders you have to buy Visual Studio to compile it... and on unix it's native.. oh well another reason to switch to Linux when it's more stable :-)

So if anyone has compiled this for Windows 2000 and Apache 1.3 please let me know.

Dave,

The main reason we don't ship mod_iw_ts_vpath pre-compiled is that there are many versions of Apache and we've had problems in the past shipping precompiled versions where they wouldn't link with the particular version of apache a customer was using. Still, I see your point about the need for Visual Studio and will bring that up for consideration in future releases.

In the meantime, you can install iw-home/lib/mod_iw_ts_rewrite.dll which provides both the x-iw-ts-vpath header needed for the visual preview toolbar and SSI remapping capability. It's compiled against the headers of the version of apache used in iw-webd (run "iw-home/iw-webd/iwwebd.exe -v" to determine this in your installation). It will probably also work with apache 1.3.33, but this hasn't been tested or verified.

Thank you for the post, and sorry if my frustration was showing :-) It was one of those things where I first saw it and was like cool I'll just compile it, and then the visual studio thing... so I appreciate the feedback, and also the guidance on the dll to use.

I added this to my httpd.conf and also copied the file to live under apache_home/modules
Is there anything I need to do in the httpd.conf to turn it on? I still get the same result that it displays your server has not been configed, I am also using the same version of Apache as TS ships with.
