Populating Dropdowns

I have been asked to have a dct with a textbox replicant. As users populate the replicant fields with for example categories, a dropdown on the same dct populates with the values of the text replicant.

What i am trying to accomplish is that the users can add categories at the bottom of the dct, but on top there are other replicants that have the value of the categories from the bottom of the dct in the dropdown.

TS 6.01 sp2 unix

Anyone try this?

You can register an onChange event that will call a function. This function will do two things, as I see it: (1) perform an IWItem.addOption() to register the new option and (2) do a callServer that will write to a config file which contains the options available for the drop-down for the next person who edits a DCR of this type.

addOption is documented in tst.600.formapi.pdf and your callServer can be (but doesn't have to be) a Perl script that simply populates a config file.

A cleaner solution might be a cgi callout next to the field in question. It would update both the DCT and whatever source the DCT reads the values from on load.
