UTF-8 in text files

Bug in search:


57977 Content in text (.txt) documents (including files with .cpp, .c, or .html
extensions) which are not saved in UTF-8 encoding are not properly indexed and the
resulting content is not searchable.
Workaround: Save files of these types in UTF-8 encoding.


So how does one save a text file in UTF-8 ?

Since I am on Unix, can I change it with locale ?

The external application that is used to edit files with .cpp like eclipse in which you can specify the file encoding.
