for TS 5.x, user can start a dropdown customization to kick of a wf, when is done user can get to the "to do list" automatically. With TS6.x, can user get to workflow tab automatically insteading clicking "workflow" tab to see the status of the job?

not sure about getting to the tab itself, but you could definitely use the URL commands to get job and task details. Look in the URL commands section of the UI customization guide.

I am not sure if it is supported, but you could also create link to the workflow tab as well or redirect to it. That specific link is not something documented in the UICG, but I would guess that is works. something like /iw-cc/command/iw.ccpro.workflow (I think)
