IW Tags within Email TPLs

Balu110

I am trying to find information on iw tags used in email notifications. Such as iw_if, iw_then, iw_iterate etc.,. Also how to read email mapping file based on a property file.

For example I am trying to understand ccmail_header.tpl, ccmail_htmlbody.tpl & ccmail.properties, which are available under ./wft/solutions directroy.

Searched on the IW manuals but unable to find any info.

Thanks in advance.
Balu.

templating includes a help section:

http://server/iw/help/tst/pt

read that

Per the email mapping file, there are 2 each with a different form.

Post your question, it is not documented well

Sorry for not clear enough.

My goal is to send email to a user or group of people based on mapping file. So I started to refer the email TPLs (ccmail_header.tpl, ccmail_htmlbody.tpl & ccmail.properties) under ./wft/solutions/ folder. In ccmail_header.tpl file, I am unable to understand the following section:
-------
<to>
<iw_if expr='{iw_value name="dcr.workflowinformation.task[1]@owner"/} ne "<no user>"'>
<iw_then>
<iwov_emailmap user='{iw_value name="dcr.workflowinformation.task[1]@owner"/}' />
</iw_then>
<iw_else>
<iw_iterate var='user' list='user_task.users.user'>
<iwov_emailmap user='{iw_value name="user@v"/}' />
</iw_iterate>
<iw_iterate var='group' list='user_task.users.group'>
<iwov_emailmap user='{iw_value name="group@v"/}' />
</iw_iterate>
</iw_else>
</iw_if>
</to>

<cc>

</cc>

<from>
<iwov_emailmap user='{iw_value name="dcr.workflowinformation.task[0]@owner"/}' />
</from>
-------------------
I want to understand how the header tpl reads the mapping file and how do I pass values to iwov_emailmap tag?

I believe this is a trivial question but help on this greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Did you see the sample mapping file ?

email_map.cfg.example

<emailConf>
<user name="jsmith" fullname="John Q. Smith" email="John.Smith@BigCorp.com"/>
</emailConf>

I want to know how the values are passed to iwov_emailmap tag? Meaning how the values are replaced for "dcr.workflowinformation.task[1]@owner", "user@v" and "group@v" variables?

Adam Stoller

I think you're confusing XML [XPath?] syntax with Perl variables.

user@v means access the 'v' attribute of the 'user' element / tag -- e.g.: <user v="something"/> would yield "something"

Adding to fish's post, It is xpath syntax of the workflow information for that task.

Refer to the CLT iwgetwfobj for the task information format.

The DTD is IWHOME/local/config/wft/iwwfobj.dtd

HTH,

Thanks for the reply & XPATH info.

1- But I am Unable to find dtd information for iw_iterate, iwov_emailmap etc.,in $IWHOME/local/config/wft/iwwfobj.dtd. So where do I find the dtd info for that?

2- For my current project, I am using a copy of "ccmail_header.tpl" (available under solutions folder) to send emails but getting following error:
----------------------------------
<ERROR>
Could not process template: /default/main/test/STAGING/configuration/workflow/email/templates/mailheader.tpl
</ERROR>

Try debugging like this: iwpt_compile ... -ocode ****.ipl; ****.ipl

XML parse error :
junk after document element at line 8, column 0, byte 138 at /InterWoven/iw-home/iw-perl/vendor/lib/XML/Parser.pm line 187
----------------------------------

The email notification task is hanging and not proceeding further. So I want to where the error is occuring? Can some give ideas to debug this error?

Thanks in advance.

Johnny

Your questions point to the fact that you are not familiar with teamsite templating/forms publisher.

Email templating uses the regular teamsite templating.

iw_iterate etc can be found in your templating manual.

Instead of processing a dcr you are processing the task information comming from iwgetwfobj .

Before posting this question, I searched in the developer/admin manuals and unable find info in regards to iw_iterate etc.,

Thanks,

As Andy stated, check out http://server/iw/help/tst/pt/.

Balu110

I have visited the link and got an idea about the mentioned tags. But for some reason, I am still getting the mentioned error. I have checked the email mapping file and made sure the user, group ids exist.

Error:
<ERROR>
Could not process template: default/main/test/STAGING/configuration/workflow/email/templates/ccmail_header.tpl
</ERROR>

Try debugging like this: iwpt_compile ... -ocode ****.ipl; ****.ipl

So tried debugging with the following from the command prompt:
cd-ed to the path (cd /default/main/test/STAGING/configuration/workflow/email/templates)
iwpt_compile.ipl -ocode ccmail_header.tpl

then got an error
<ERROR>
No presentation template file
</ERROR>

Can someone help me to resolve?

Thanks in advance.

Johnny

Have you read the usage for iwpt_compile? Your params are wrong

John Cuiuli

jbonifaci

The correct syntax is:

iwpt_compile.ipl -pt <presentationTemplate> -iw_pt-dcr <dcr> -ocode ****.ipl

That will generate an ipl called ****.ipl. You would then run that to get more meaningful errors.

Your syntax needs a lot more than that. Check the usage notes in the script.

Current Environment(s):
(1) TS 6.5 on W2K3
(2) TS 6.1 SP1 on W2K3
By the way, I miss Unix terribly.

Balu110

Thanks for correcting my syntax. Now I am able to create the output **** file.

Earlier I thought ccmail_header.tpl is referring to email_map.cfg from $iw-home/etc folder but by reading previous threads, I found that
"iwov_emailmap" tag is referring the map cfg file from solutions folder. So I added the corresponding entries in that file. Now it is creating an output but the to & cc email address are wrong

The output looks like this:
---------------------
<to>
<addr>@oddc.com</addr>
</to>

<cc>
<addr>@oddc.com</addr>
</cc>

<from>
<addr fullname="Balu">br@yahoo.com</addr>
</from>
---------------------
Why is it not picking up the correct address from the mapping file?

I have attached ccmail_header.tpl & email_map.cfg for reference.

Balu110

I did some more research and guessing that the problem is occurring in substituting the variables. So I need know, how the user_task variable gets replaced?. I searched the output xml from iwgetwfobj and unable to see any user_task varialble.

<iw_if expr='{iw_value name="user_task@owner"/} ne "<no user>"'>
<iw_then>
<iwov_emailmap user='{iw_value name="user_task@owner"/}' />
</iw_then>
<iw_else>
<iw_iterate var='user' list='user_task.users.user'>
<iwov_emailmap user='{iw_value name="user@v"/}' />
</iw_iterate>
<iw_iterate var='group' list='user_task.users.group'>
<iwov_emailmap user='{iw_value name="group@v"/}' />
</iw_iterate>
</iw_else>
</iw_if>

Also trying to understand
- list lookup ['user_task.users.user']. How is it getting the list of users?
- what is the use of ccmail.properties?

Help on this greatly appreciated.
