DCR validation

Hi
I have a DCR which gets updated by an ipl. Once that happens special characters appears which invalidates the DCR. I can't predict what this special characters may be although often it would be a Â character. Since the character is unpredictable I can't use Regexpression.Can anyone suggest me a Perl module or Teamsite shortcut which may automatically ( Smiley Happy

) remove the special characters and render the DCR. I would really be thankful for any help.

The character Â shouldn't break a DCR. Are you using UTF-8 encoding for your DCR? Most likely a < or a > were put into the DCR. Try putting the DCR through an XML validation tool to see where it breaks.

As for your query this is the message I get when i try to view the DCR in a browser. As you said I can't find out what else corrupted the DCR

An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource . Line 19, Position 208
</creditavailability><currencyavailability>USD, EUR</currencyavailability><eligibleinvestors>x</eligibleinvestors><field_set>0</field_set><investmentmgmtcharges><p>Switched back to the original format.

do you encode entities when writing to the text of the XML?

Did u mean whether we are encoding characters while writing to the DCR? No, because we are treating the DCR as an XML and using XML: Smiley Very Happy

OM parser's setData method update the value in DCR. Because I read XML: Smiley Very Happy

OM is a better module than Teamsite : Smiley Very Happy

CRNode or parser
Why? Could that in any way affect the encoding?
We are using UTF-8 encoding

OM has had a bug in it, when setting value.

try this:

before writing out XML, wrap it like this:

$xmlStr = &xmlEncodeValue($xmlStr);

# XML: Smiley Very Happy

OM bug workaround to encode '>' characters when setting data value.
sub xmlEncodeValue {
my $value = shift;
$value =~ s/(<[^\/][^>]*?>)([^<]+?)(<\/[^>]+?>)/$1 . &xmlEscapeTextNode($2) . $3/sge;
return $value;
}
sub xmlEscapeTextNode {
my $value = shift;
$value =~ s/>/>/sg;
return $value;
}

there could be something else, but this is a definite bug that I knew of.

I am attaching the portion of dcr causing the problem. If you view it in a browser you can see the error. For your information , Much of the fields are populated trough a VFE using a charencode="utf-8" value.
Any help is greatly appreciated .
