WorkSite Web - hide sidebar by default
lgltech
We would like to hide the sidebar in WorkSite Web by default. Does anyone know where in the html/aspx for the page (tab.js) there is a call to a function showSideBar(show)? If you replace the parameter show with false, then the sidebar will not show, correct? Thanks.

In that function you can put the first line as
show = false
that will make the show value to be always false

We tried using show = false in the tab.js file to hide the sidebar, but the result was to remove ALL tabs from the site. We only want to suppress the sidebar tab. Any suggestions on how to do this would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks.

Here's an alternative suggestion that works with WSW 8.0 SP1. Inside tab.js, at the end of the file, place the following code:
window.onloadAdvise("showSideBar(false)");
This will force the sidebar to be hidden for ALL users, all the time.
If you wanted to selectively hide the sidebar for certain users, you could replace showSideBar() above with your custom function that handles the logic for determining who sees the sidebar in what state. Inside your custom function you would then call showSideBar() with the appropriate bool flag.
Example:
//put this function in tab.js
function myCustomFunctionToDisplaySidebar()
{
...
var showSidebar = //some logic here to determine how to display the sidebar
...
//now call showSideBar with a bool flag from your custom logic
showSideBar(showSidebar)
}
//this needs to be the last line in tab.js so that the function is loaded before it is called
window.onloadAdvise("myCustomFunctionToDisplaySidebar()");
