Data deploy

I have enabled the Datadeploy Auto Synchronization (DAS) functionality of datadeploy in my Teamsite server. But now the clients requirement is to use the stand-alone deployment functionality of the datadeploy.
What are configuration changes that needs to be done for reverting back to stand alone deployment.

What version of the product are you using?
By "stand-alone deployment" do you mean using the command-line tool to invoke data deployments manually / via custom scripts?

If you're using 6.0.x I believe that you need to have downloaded/installed the DD enabler in order to do stand-alone deployments.
(if you're using 6.0.2 you can disable the DAS part)

If you're using 5.x I believe you can use iwlsat / iwrmat to remove the DAS triggers - and you shouldn't have to do anything special to use the command line tools.

Does DD Enabler mean this "DataDeploy Module Enabler".. I have run the ' iwodinstalldd ' script .....

When i run the deployment from the command line ,in the src.<deploymentname>.<hostname>.to.database.log file shows

what is the version you are using!! CAn you post the errors you are getting if at all. What type of deployment you are doing. viz DCR's to Database or EA,s to database or custom defined XML's to database!!

I am trying to deploy dcrs to the oracle database ..Using Teamsite 6.5 and Opendeploy & datadeploy 6.0.1 in the Teamsite server.

On seeing the logs of src.<deploymentname>.<hostname>.to.database.log file , it seems that the datadeploy is running in DAS mode...

I want datadeploy to run only in standalone mode......

I want to deploy the dcrs to database by calling an custom script that will call the datadeploy in command line....

I have done this sort of deployment!! And i think DAS is always involved here ,, you need not worry! Just go ahead with the deployment .. A stand alone deployment will use some of the DAS functionality.

try running the deployment and post the errors you get (if at all).

if you want to disable DAS you should check the following thing:

\iw-home\OpenDeployNG\ect\odbase.xml
There a line

<databaseDeployment enabled="yes" />

You should comment this out.

Hi Stefan,

i commented out "<databaseDeployment enabled="yes" />" in odbase.xml and restarted the opendeploy server.....

Now the database deployment has totally stopped, i am not at all able to deploy data to ORACLE database from TS server.

The objective of running DATADEPLOY in stand alone mode is not reached...

Put the line back in and restart OD.

That line is required in order to enable deployments.

In 6.0.1 - DAS mode is ALWAYS running when DD is enabled.
In 6.0.2 - DAS mode can be disabled while still allowing DD to be enabled for command-line invokation.

You can either ignore the messages about DAS - or upgrade to 6.0.2.

Make sure you have the DD config files in the right place. How are your running it from the command line? Post your logs/log errors.

i calll opendeploy script inside an ipl file with some parameters....The ipl script is inturn called from an workflow.....

/opt/opendeploy6.0/OpenDeployNG/bin/iwodcmd start edition.xml -V verbose -k parameters ....

I think he was asking for a bit more specific details about how you were trying to invoke DataDeploy.
Are you invoking it within a DNR script using iwodcmd?
Are you attempting to use the dbLoader?
Are you doing something else?

Yes , I do use the DNR script in the open deploy .....

Sample code is shown below..... This variable [ $dd_cmd ] has the ipl file and command line arguments passed to the ipl file.....

In the ipl file i call the datadeploy using iwodcmd command with the deployment configurationfile and the deployment name.....

you should really wrap the invokation of DD in a separate script - where you can trap if an error occurred and print out the appropriate XML snippet to indicate the error to OD - but other than that, it looks right, and as I said before, either ignore the DAS stuff or upgrade to 6.0.2 where you can turn it off and still have the command line stuff work.

I have a question here. I am on that same environment, and same scenario. Can i do a Standalone deployment making changes as below in the odbase.xml file. Does OD6.0.2 have an In built DD enabler? Please suggest me ASAP.

I am running a different scenario here:

In DD5.5.2, a "DAS" alike daemon is running to sync the DB when a file being Created/Modified/Deleted (I really mean EAs here) by running iwdd.ipl as a daemon, after upgraded to OD 6.02, what is the equivalent OD command similar to iwdd.ipl without using DAS?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The stand-alone DD command in OD/DD 6.x is: iwodcmd start configname -k iwdd=deployment-name.

It's in the docs, and if you check the forums here you'll see at least one or two decent threads explaining what was done to convert an iwdd.ipl type process to the new iwodcmd type process.

how to get this "enabler", is it a downloadable component?

It's downloadable from the support site, yes, but it requires a separate license for a decent amount of $$. It's called the DataDeploy module for OpenDeploy and is just that -- it sits on your OpenDeploy instance and requires a minimal config change, but that's all covered in the documentation.
