Find Latest Edition Name

In Teamsite, is there a way to find out the name of the latest edition of current branch programatically via perl? I know that using it along with Open Deploy, just setting it to "EDITION" will pickup the latest edition. But I have some goofy need where I need to find the name of the latest edition in TS. Is this even possible?

I am on TS 6.1.

You can use the "iwlasted" CLT for this.
